CANCELLED: Two Beats Ahead Jazz Band

Dance or just enjoy the big band sounds of the Ottawa New Horizons “Two Beats Ahead Jazz Band”. The band is set up with the same instrumentation as a big band from the 1940’s, featuring saxophones, trombones, trumpets and a full rhythm section. The band’s repertoire consists of everything from classic stands such as “All of Me” to modern day examples like “Suit and Tie.” Two Beats Ahead is under the direction of Band Leader Jean-Pierre Lafleur.

The concert is a fundraiser for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Derek McKinley is a singer and children's entertainer who brings his joy of life to music in a fun way, inspiring children and adults alike through songs that empower and foster an appreciation for living healthy and environmentally awareness.

Singing and playing music has always been part of Derek's life, playing with bands, DJing, event planning, even singing telegrams dressed as a penguin and a gorilla! The idea for writing children's music started while teaching children in Japan, and adding the "party factor" to make classes more exciting for his students. He decided to share the fun with more people through festival appearances, birthday parties, songwriting workshops, music/movement playgroups and recently an album, Sing Song Party Time with Derek McKInley.

“Love Wins” is a new album from third-generation singer-songwriter Prescott. She returns to her roots with the sounds and styles that she loves, delivering a collection of songs that are contemplative and masterfully highlight her soulful vocals. The album has just received a CCMA Award nomination for “Roots Album of the Year” and CMAO nomination for "Roots Artist of the Year". With her musical family (Tracy Brown & Prescott), she recently made her impressive Grand Ole Opry debut as guests of Terri Clark. She last performed in Manotick with her former band The Claytones.

Led by singer-songwriter Tony Dekker, this group has established itself as an indie folk act. The CBC has called them “a national treasure” with a sound that is at once familiar and distinct, using the tools of folk music. The latest release, “The Waves, The Wake” includes new sounds such as harp, lute, pipe organ, woodwinds, congas and marimbas, alongside the more familiar banjo, piano, and 12-string electric guitar. Great Lake Swimmers have been nominated twice for Juno Awards, have been shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Prize, and won a Canadian Indie Award for "Favourite Folk/Roots Artist/Group".

Catherine MacLellan, one of Canadian folk music’s true gems, wrote and produced her seventh album Coyote in 2019 at her home studio in PEI. It's a travelogue through heartbreak, loss and the joy of life.

Acclaim for Catherine’s own songwriting reached new levels, winning the 2015 Juno Award for her standout album, The Raven’s Sun with long-time collaborator, Chris Gauthier. Catherine has also been recognized with multiple East Coast Music Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards, and Music PEI Awards.

Catherine took time from her own songwriting to celebrate her late legendary father, Gene MacLellan, who wrote many hit songs including Snowbird by Anne MurrayMurray, and Put Your Hand in the Hand by Ocean. She recording the album, If It’s Alright With You: The Songs of Gene MacLellan; produced a stage show by the same name; and an award winning documentary, The Song and the Sorrow.
