Manotick Round-the-Islands Paddling Race

2024 Registration & Information

1. A family fun event paddling clockwise around Long and Nicolls Islands. OMCKRA sanctioned for recreational canoe, kayak and paddleboard.
2. To reserve a spot, mail an Entry & Waiver form (RTF) with a cheque to Brian Schacht. Entry fee per paddler is $20 ($12 for OMCKRA members), or $35 per vessel ($20 for OMCKRA members)
3. Waiver must be signed before starting.
4. Saturday parking can be busy near the launch ramp; but there is also street parking.
5. Competitors will start at one minute intervals.
6. Course marshals with cell phones and first aid kits will be stationed at the start/finish and both portages. At the 1^st portage (O’Grady St. dock) climb the hill and follow Dickinson St. to a launch site on the south side of Bridge St. At the 2^nd portage (Long Island locks) climb the stairs on the west side of the locks. Canoe docks are located at the base and the top of the locks.
7. Footwear suitable for slippery rocks and zebra mussels is mandatory.
8. Paddleboarders must remove their keels and kneel or sit to traverse the shallow back-channel areas. Double bladed paddles are recommended.

10. You will be assigned a start time, which will be your race number. For example, start time 10:17 means race number 17. You will start in the water, and your finish time will be recorded when the bow of your vessel passes under the south edge of the Bridge Street bridge, if you remember to shout your race number to the timer.
