Manotick Round-the-Islands Paddling Race

2023 Registration & Information

1. Event location is the Manotick Boat Launch, 5495 South River Dr.
2. A pre-event briefing will be held at 9:40 am to check equipment and review the course, portages, and safety procedures.
3. The signed Waiver Form (PDF) and entry fee must be provided before the briefing:
   $20 ($12 plus $8 liability insurance) or $35 per canoe/kayak.
   $12 or $20 per canoe/kayak for OMCKRA members.
   The Waiver must be printed and signed. Some forms will be available on the day.
4. You will be assigned a start time, which will be your race number. Example: Start time 10:17 means your race number is #17.
5. Competitors will start in the water at one minute intervals.
6. Your finish time will be recorded when the bow of your craft passes under the south edge of the final bridge at Bridge St. Remember to shout your race number to the timer.
7. Saturday parking can be busy near the launch ramp; but there is also street parking.
8. Course marshalls with cell phones will be stationed at both portages:
   Dock/stairway on O’Grady St. and Long Island locks.
9. Footwear suitable for slippery rocks and zebra mussels is mandatory.
10. Paddleboarders are advised to traverse the shallow back-channel areas sitting down. Keel(s) must be removed, as they will likely be scraping bottom in the back channel.
11. All watercraft regulations must be followed: Mandatory paddling gear (mec.ca) such as PFD, whistle, heaving line (bailer and flashlight for certain boats).
12. Medal Ceremony will be conducted immediately after the event.
