Skye Consort & Emma Björling perform trans-Atlantic arrangements of songs & tunes from Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, England, Québec, Acadia, the USA, as well as original compositions. Each musician brings their own individual interpretation to these traditions to create this extraordinary collaboration, consisting of voices, fiddle, nyckelharpa, cello, bouzouki, banjo, and percussion. An assortment of whirling polskas, groovy reels, passionate love songs, breathtaking hymns, and original compositions.
Harmony Concerts
"Arrangements are masterful and varied, from the arresting "Om Berg och Dalar" ("Of Mountain and Valley") in which Björling's pure voice rides atop a meditative drone before the tune morphs into a lilting reel; to "Cast Iron Stove," a sea shanty with vocals by Skye Consort's Sean Dagher that somehow invokes both Mumford & Sons and Philip Glass; to "The Skunk/Thick as Thieves," whose wordless vocals meld beautifully with the instrumental texture. If you're lucky enough to have a cottage to escape to when the warm weather hits, take this album with you." - Robert Rowat, CBC Music
"I think it speaks for itself, the musicianship, the powerful invocation of times gone by. The whole CD is magical like that, sometimes in Swedish sometimes French sometimes English." - barczablog

Information & Tickets
Kongero is a Swedish vocal group, consisting of the four female folk music singers Lotta Andersson, Emma Bjorling, Sofia Hultqvist Kott and Anna Wikenius. The original members formed Kongero in 2005 after a Nordic folk music conference. By chance they found that their voices and harmonies blended perfectly. Since then they have performed at many of the major folk music events and a cappella and chamber music festivals, as well as doing tours in Europe, Asia and the Americas. They also do well-received smaller events, and conduct workshops in traditional Swedish vocal music and vocal harmonies. Kongero’s repertoire consists of traditional and original songs and tunes arranged by the members. Kongero tells tales of life, with moving love songs, dramatic medieval ballads, witty ditties, and spirited dances. Their music is characterized by tight harmonies, inciting rhythms, and the clarity of their beautiful voices. With con dence, technical skill, irresistible playfulness and brilliant arrangements, they create a unique sound that brings the traditional music from past to present. They call the genre Swedish Folk'apella.
Special guests: Canadian Showtime Chorus Ensemble
Harmony Concerts
"Oh, how beautiful! The music from these four skilled and talented singers is clear as bells, poetic, and moving. Refined and varied arrangements that really stand out in the middle of the beautiful sounds. A solace and great comfort for a stressed-out editor." - Peter Ahlbom, Spelmannen magazine
